Back in the 1920's when Joseph Pilates made his original apparatus he based it on years of working with patients in hospital where he created a system involving mattress springs attached to the head of the bed.
When he finally opened his studio in New York the system had evolved greatly and he called his first machine the Cadillac, after the "big daddy" of American cars.
The Spacemate uses a door to re-create the Cadillac tower concept.
You can now perform dozens of body conditioning, shaping, and posture enhancing pilates exercises, without any weight adjustments or moving between different pieces of equipment. And if you are new to Pilates the Spacemate actually assists you in many of these exercises.
Simple adjustment of the height of attachment to the door actually allows even more range than the original Cadillac could provide.
Just like the Cadillac tower a high setting creates a lifting force that helps against gravity and allows even the absolute beginner to do Legs in Straps from a uniquely safe and more supported position.
Lowering the attachment creates an angle of resistance that is harder yet more akin to the resistance we feel in everyday lifting, bending turning etc.
With the spacemate attached to the back of the door it takes up very little space and when not in use everything, including the mat, are stored in its own shoulder bag.
The level 1 DVD takes you through a complete workout while introducing you to many famous pilates exercises that will help change the way you move, stand, and even feel about yourself. The level 2 & 3 DVD’s progressively take you through more advanced workouts.
